Pick up your free passport at the Parks and Recreation Office at City Hall. The passport is a handy booklet which lists the address, amenities, color photos and a fun challenge to complete at each park! 

Roseville Parks and Recreation summer intern Joslyn Klitzkie jumpstarted the passport program. The University of Minnesota senior recalled completing a similar museum passport program as a child. When Roseville Parks leadership staff floated the idea, Joslyn leapt into action.

Joslyn visited all 32 parks snapping photos, documenting fun amenities including playgrounds, picnic shelters, bench swings, pollinator gardens and fishing piers.  

“It’s amazing Roseville has so many parks! Some are simple green spaces but a lot of them have their own distinctive features that make them special. That was cool to see,” Joslyn said. 

She also sleuthed out interesting details, which she used to create family-friendly challenges and questions that make the passport a bit of a scavenger hunt. 

“My favorite is Materion Park. It’s a hidden gem. You really can’t see the park from the street, but there’s a playground, a walking trail and a pond,” she said. 

Joslyn also collaborated with local businesses, who agreed to provide prizes. Visit 10 parks and qualify for a monthly raffle for a $50 gift card at a local business. Turn in the passport tear-out form by July 31, August 31 or September 30 to enter. Sponsors are Lunds & Byerlys, Portillo’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Love From Minnesota.
