Forget the jokes about car salesmen, Roseville has a few you want in your corner. On May 27, Deno Yannarelli from Roseville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and James Moosaie from Roseville Buick GMC jumped a fence and pulled a semi-truck driver to safety.
The driver had lost control of the truck and it swerved and hit the pole of a road sign near County Road C. The driver had gotten out of the truck but returned to the cab to get a fire extinguisher when the truck burst into flames.
Yannarelli, who was working at the auto dealership, heard the crash and saw the flames. He jumped the fence, picked up the driver and started dragging him away from the truck with the help of Moosaie, who jumped the fence after him. They carried the driver to safety. They laid the driver in the back of a pickup and Yannarelli placed his shirt on the man's back. They soaked the shirt with water to help cool his burned skin until the ambulance arrived.
On Tuesday, July 7, the Roseville Fire Department will present Yannarelli and Moosaie with awards of recognition for their bravery. The award will be presented at 3:00 p.m. at the City’s fire station, 2701 Lexington Ave N. Roseville Fire Chief Tim O’Neill will present the awards.
