Essay Contest Winners Announced

The City Council has honored six middle school students for their outstanding submissions in Roseville’s annual Human Rights Essay Contest. The winners were selected from among 120 entrants. Students were asked to tackle the subject of how prejudice and stereotypes affect the way we perceive and interact with each other, even when we don’t realize it. Students from Roseville Area Middle School, Little Canada Elementary and St. Jerome’s School participated in the contest. Read more

Preventing Falls in Older Adults

Older adults are at higher risk of falling and of dying in a fire. Please join the Roseville Fire Department for a free, one-hour presentation for older adults about fire and fall prevention on Tuesday, May 23. The presentation, called Remembering When, is being held at Good Samaritan Heritage Place, 563 County Road B in Roseville and starts at 3:00 p.m. Remembering When is a safety program that uses trivia, humor and nostalgia to teach older adults ways to protect themselves from fires and falls. The Roseville Alzheimer’s & Dementia Community Action Team (Rsvl A/D) continues its popular Dementia: Caring & Coping speaker series this week at the Ramsey County Library in Roseville. May’s topic is How to Pay for Senior Care. It will take place at the Library on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. How to Pay for Senior Care, presented by elder law attorney Allison J. Frasier, will provide an overview of options for financing the care of a person who has been diagnosed with a chronic illness or disability, such as dementia. Read more

Welcome New Americans

Join us in welcoming our newest American citizens. Roseville will host a Naturalization Ceremony on Wednesday, May 24 at the Roseville Skating Center at 10:00 a.m.. This is the fourth year that Roseville has hosted a naturalization ceremony. The Roseville Human Rights Commission, working with the U.S. District Court of Minnesota, is hosting the ceremony. Approximately 50 people will be taking their oath of citizenship. Read more
