Walsh Lake Subwatershed Drainage Improvements

Background

Over the years, City staff has been contacted by a number of property owners living in the single family neighborhood located north of Roselawn, west of Cleveland, and southeast of Midland Hills Country Club regarding drainage concerns.  In order to better understand the cause for these concerns, the City recently completed a drainage study of the Walsh Lake subwatershed, evaluating the capacity of the storm sewer pipes and inlets in the neighborhood.

The results of this study further reinforced the concerns that had been brought to City staff.  During high intensity rain events, the existing pipes and inlets are not taking in the water quickly enough, causing both street and yard flooding.  In some areas this flooding has caused property damage.
