It's Almost Booya Time!
Roseville Firefighters really know how to cook, and they plan to dish up a hearty serving of the best Booya around. The Booya is an annual event that has taken place since the late 1940s. This year's Booya will be Sunday, October 6, at the Roseville VFW, 1145 Woodhill Drive. Serving will begin at 11:00 am.
For those who are not familiar with Booya, it is a hearty beef, chicken and vegetable soup. The Booya is available as single servings or in quantities. For those not interested in Booya, hot dogs and other food items will be for sale. Other activities will include a cake walk and games for the kids.
Money raised goes to firefighters or their families in a time of need and firefighter athletic/fitness programs. They donate funds to the community for such programs as the Roseville Area High School lock-in, school safety patrol, fire explorers and other programs not funded through taxpayer dollars.
The celebration kicks off Fire Prevention Week, October 6-12.
