FEMA Floodplain

Background
To identify a community’s flood risk, FEMA conducts a Flood Insurance Study that includes statistical data for hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, rainfall, and topographic surveys. FEMA uses this data to create the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) that outline Roseville's different flood risk areas. The different areas are referred to as panels and are given a unique identifying number as you can see in the map below.

Click on a panel of the map below to see your FIRM. It is a large file that will open up in a new browser window, so please be patient. You will want to learn how to read the FIRM so you can make informed decisions about if you need to protect your property from flooding either financially, structurally or both.

Of Note
Floodplains are shown as high-risk areas or Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs). Some parts of floodplains may experience frequent flooding while others are only affected by severe storms. However, areas directly outside of these high-risk areas may also find themselves at considerable risk..

Changing weather patterns, erosion, and development can affect floodplain boundaries. FEMA updated the City of Roseville’s Flood Insurance Rate Maps in 2010. These digital flood hazard maps provide an official depiction of flood hazards for each community and for properties located within it.
