Pollinators

Minnesota has approximately 400 different species of bees. One species, the Honey Bee, is currently in a crisis termed "Colony Collapse Disorder" due to their rapid decline in population. The honey bee and other species of bees are declining because of:

  • Habitat Loss
  • Overuse of Pesticides
  • Disease

What is Roseville doing to support Pollinators?

  • Roseville recently passed a resolution declaring the City of Roseville as a Pollinator Friendly Community!
  • Volunteers created bee nest box habitats (pictured left) to be placed in Roseville Parks. 
  • Natural Resource Renewal in our Parks helps to provide pollinator friendly landscapes
  • Planting of the Fruit Orchard at the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum
What can residents do to support Pollinators?
  • Plant bee flowers
  • Eliminate pesticides on bee friendly flowers whenever possible
  • Create bee habitats
