The Guidant John Rose MN OVAL is a unique outdoor recreation facility with 110,000 square feet of refrigerated ice from November to March and hosts an aggressive skate park and inline skating from May to September.

The OVAL Winter season begins mid-November through the first weekend of March. The Oval has a 400 meter speed skating track surrounding an infield used for hockey or bandy. Due to our refrigeration system, we are able to maintain high quality ice throughout the entire OVAL season.
The OVAL acts as one of the premiere speedskating venues in North America in which we host a number of competition each year. Additionally, the OVAL is one of the only Olympic-sized Bandy ice sheets, where we've hosted World and National Bandy games and Championships.
OVAL user groups include general public skaters, Midway Speedskating Club, Greater MN Speedskating Association, USA Men's & Women's Bandy teams, recreational Bandy teams, Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association and other private rental groups.

WEATHER/CANCELLATION POLICIES
: The OVAL will remain open for activities unless the windchill is -25 degrees or lower. When the OVAL is closed, an alert box will appear on the SkatetheOVAL.com main page or call our weather line at 651-792-7191
From early May through September, the OVAL is used for inline skating and hosts an aggressive skate park.
OVAL Skate Park is free to the public, hours vary depending on sunset times and other special events or programs we may be hosting.

OVAL FAST FACTS
- The Guidant John Rose MN Oval is the largest outdoor refrigerated skating facility in the world, featuring an 110,000 square foot slab of concrete used for ice-skating in the winter and inline skating in the spring, summer and fall.
- The Oval has a state of the art cooling system with 800+ tons of refrigeration and 84 miles of underground piping that helps maintain world-class ice, even when temperatures climb into the 50s!
- The grandstand outside the Oval lobby can seat up to 300 spectators.
- The Oval has hosted events such as World Cup Speedskating, World and National Bandy Championships, and Aggressive Skating and Biking competitions.
- During the summer the Guidant John Rose MN Oval boasts one of the largest outdoor Skate Parks in the Midwest!

- The refrigeration system for the Arena is a freon base as opposed to the brine and ammonia mix in the Guidant John Rose MN Oval system.
- The Roseville Skating Center parking lots can hold up to 250 vehicles.
- The Guidant John Rose MN OVAL is positioned at a latitude of 45 degrees 02' North, longitude 93 degrees 12' West elevation 906 MSL. Roseville is located half-way between the North Pole and the Equator.
