[ARCHIVED] Fire Station Groundbreaking

Celebrate the groundbreaking for Roseville’s new fire station. Join us on Monday, September 10, at 5:00 pm at the corner of Lexington Ave and Woodhill Drive.

Mayor Dan Roe and Councilmembers will join City Manager Bill Malinen and Fire Chief Tim O’Neill to break ground on the new fire station. Please park in the City Hall parking lot, entering off Civic Center Drive.

The new station will be built on the site of the original Roseville fire station. The old fire station, built in the 1930s, was outdated and too costly to repair. After years of consideration, planning and council approval, it was demolished last December to make way for the new fire station that will serve the entire city.

The new fire station will use sustainable technologies. This includes geothermal ground-source heating, natural lighting, LED lighting, high R-value walls and windows and a white membrane roof that reflects solar light and heat to minimize the heat island effect.

The station will incorporate many firefighter-training features. Better-trained firefighters will benefit the citizens and visitors of Roseville and increase firefighter safety.

The station will have six drive-through bays making it safer for firefighters to drive large fire apparatus into the building. It will include sleeping rooms and adequate privacy for male and female firefighters. We expect construction on the $8 million project to be complete by the summer of 2013.
