Ramsey County wants your help to achieve this goal. They are collecting food waste and non-recyclable paper at six county yard waste sites.
This is how it works. First you pick up free BPI-certified compostable bags. Then you fill the bags with food waste and other compostable material and take the organics to a Ramsey County yard waste site. They will take the material to an organics composting site, where it will become a soil amendment.
Items collected include:
All food waste including vegetables, fruits, meats (including fats, oils and grease), poultry, fish, bones, grains, dairy, coffee grounds and filters, tea bags etc.
Non-recyclable paper including greasy pizza boxes, paper towels, tissues, wrapping paper, paper freezer boxes, soda and beer boxes, dirty paper bags, etc.
