Rain on top of rapidly melting snow can create conditions for flooding. Public Works crews are working to open snow-impacted storm sewer drains across the city to help reduce the flooding potential.
Work is being done methodically, with priority given to low-lying areas and areas with homes below street level that may be vulnerable to flooding. Staff limitations will keep crews from getting to all of Roseville’s 4,000+ storm drains this week, however.
Residents not located on busy roadways who wish to open drains themselves are encouraged to do so, but please be cautious of any traffic in the area.
The Public Works department recommends residents use Google Street View to find the storm sewer drain in their neighborhood if they aren’t sure of its location.
Residents who notice an area starting to flood should contact Public Works at 612-792-7004. After regular business hours, please contact the city's 24-hour non-emergency number at 651-767-0640. Always call 911 for emergencies.
