The City of Roseville installed 80 kilowatts (kW) of on-site solar power at its City Hall campus over the winter and the system will begin feeding clean energy to the electrical grid on Monday, April 22.
In addition to reducing Roseville’s campus electrical costs, it is estimated that the solar installation will offset approximately 55 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
The system includes two separate arrays fitted to the roofs of City Hall and the fire station.
The solar panels were delivered in mid-January. Installation of the arrays took approximately two to three weeks for each building.
Later this summer, the city will commission an additional 125 kW solar array on the maintenance facility roof resulting in a total of 205 kW of on-site solar power and a total offset of 141 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
To mark the occasion of Roseville’s first to solar arrays going live, the city will host a kickoff event for the public and media at 5:30 p.m. in the front lobby of City Hall prior to the April 22 City Council meeting.
