Governor Tim Walz signed an executive order effective Friday, May 14, 2021 ending Minnesota’s statewide face covering mandate based on new guidance announced by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As a result of the Governor’s order, residents visiting City of Roseville facilities are no longer required to wear face coverings.
Roseville Parks and Recreation, however, will continue to require face coverings for all city-run indoor youth programs. It’s recommended that individuals who are not fully vaccinated continue to wear face coverings indoors.
This policy is being evaluated by Parks and Recreation as it reviews the updated executive order as well as Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and CDC guidance to make a long-term determination regarding mask requirements for indoor youth programs.
Private businesses may still require face coverings. Residents patronizing those businesses in Roseville are asked to comply with those requirements.
The Roseville City Council voted on July 20, 2020 to amend existing emergency declarations related to the COVID-19 pandemic to include requiring the use of face coverings in indoor areas accessible to the public. The Council’s emergency order was vacated by an executive order issued by Governor Walz on July 25, 2020 mandating face coverings in indoor areas throughout the state.
The City of Roseville will continue to follow executive orders issued by the Governor and COVID-19 guidance provided by the MDH and CDC.
