Metro residents may be enjoying this late round of warm weather, but 70-degree days aren't ideal for making outdoor ice. The toasty temps have delayed the opening of the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL skating season by one day to Saturday, November 7.
Expected cooler temperatures in the coming days will allow for for the return of proper ice-making conditions and those itching to get back on the ice can do so from 7-9 p.m. Saturday night, when the OVAL officially opens for public skating and open hockey.
OVALumination, the annual holiday tree-lighting celebration, originally planned for November 6, has been rescheduled for November 20. Skating starts at 6:00 p.m. and at 6:30 we’ll light more than 100 trees surrounding the OVAL. OVALumination is free to view and $5.50 to skate.
