Join the City of Roseville on November 9 and weigh in on the City’s second cable franchise agreement. The North Suburban Communications Commission has recommend that each city enter into a cable television franchise agreement with CenturyLink.
The NSCC manages cable television franchises for nine cities in the east metro area and voted to make the recommendation in October. The first step to consider granting a franchise is to conduct a public hearing.
The proposed agreement is for five years. It includes the goal of a complete build-out of CenturyLink’s infrastructure within the city during that period.
According to the agreement, CenturyLink would provide 16 high-definition access channels to NSCC and allow cities to have public service announcements on non-public access channels during unsold/unused airtime. They would also provide 25 hours of video on demand of city content for subscribers to access through their TV.
The Roseville City Council will conduct the cable franchise public hearing at its meeting on November 9. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide comment on the proposed agreement.
City Council meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. at Roseville City Hall, 2660 Civic Center Drive. Meetings are open to the public. Meetings are web-streamed live at www.cityofroseville.com/webstreaming and shown on Cable Channel 16.
