Roseville firefighters really know how to cook, and they plan to dish up a hearty serving of the best Booya around. Join the Roseville Fire Department Auxiliary at its annual fundraiser on Sunday, October 2.
Firefighters will be dishing up the booya at the VFW Post #7555, 1145 Woodhill Drive, in Roseville, Starting at 11:00 a.m.
Booya is a hearty beef, chicken and vegetable soup. It will be available for $5.00 per scoop. Hot dogs and other food items will also be available for purchase.
Money raised at the event goes to firefighters or their families in a time of need and to firefighter athletic/fitness programs. They donate funds to community programs such as the Roseville Area High School lock-in, school safety patrol, fire explorers, and other programs not funded through taxpayer dollars.
The Booya kicks off Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15. This year, the theme is “Don’t Wait – Check the Date” to remind everyone to replace smoke alarms at least every ten years.
Half of all U.S. home fire deaths occur between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., when people are most likely to be sleeping. Having a working smoke alarm in the home cuts the risk by half. It is extremely important to have working smoke alarms in all bedrooms. Get more fire safety tips, at www.cityofroseville.com/fire.
