Join the Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC) on September 15 to celebrate the 15th annual Wild Rice Festival. It’s a free, family-friendly celebration of wild rice, Native American culture and the harvest season.
The Wild Rice Festival runs from from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Performances and demonstrations throughout the day include:
- Little Thunderbird Drum and Dance Troupe
- A special performance by Bluedog Native Blues Band at 4:30 p.m.
- Traditional wild ricing, honey extraction, apple cider press
- Native American crafts
- Gibbs Farm Tipi and activities
- Music and storytelling
- Concessions for purchase from local food trucks and Pow Wow Grounds Cafe
HANC is located at 2520 Dale St., north of Highway 36. It includes 52 acres of marsh, prairie and forest habitats.
Proceeds of this fundraising event support the nature center and its mission of environmental education and outdoor recreation.
