The Roseville License Center will be implementing the State of Minnesota’s new driver’s license software system on September 28-29 and will be unable to process driver’s licenses or identification cards either day.
The License Center, 2737 Lexington Ave., will be open to process motor vehicle and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) transactions both days. Passport services will not be affected. Normal processing for all driver’s license applications will resume on Monday, October 1, at 8:00 a.m.
Please expect longer wait times beginning October 1 due to new driver’s license and identification card requirements for those choosing to obtain a REAL DL/ID. Minnesota residents are NOT required to change their driver’s license/identification card on October 1, 2018. Department of Homeland Security has approved a domestic travel extension for Minnesota ID holders. A new Minnesota REAL DL/ID will not be required to board a plane until October 1, 2020.
Contact the Minnesota Department of Public Safety at dps.mn.gov or call 651-297-3298 to learn more about REAL ID.
