The Roseville Police Department will host its annual Shop with a Cop event on Wednesday, December 5. Shop with a Cop helps build positive relationships between officers and the families they serve.
Holidays can be stressful for those dealing with challenges. Shop with a Cop aims to lessen that tension by providing a fun-filled evening of holiday shopping. Each year, Roseville officers are paired with kids to go on a shopping spree courtesy of a grant from Roseville Target and financial and in-kind donations from the community. After shopping, the officers and their new buddies return to Roseville City Hall to wrap presents and enjoy a pizza party.
“It truly is a wonderful event,” said Roseville Police Community Relations Coordinator Corey Yunke. “On my first Shop with a Cop experience, I assumed the kids would go straight to the toy section. Some do, but only to buy presents for their siblings. The most popular items are winter clothes, boots for mom or a necklace for grandma,’ said Yunke.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support the program, mail or drop off a check payable to “Roseville Police Department” by December 1, to Roseville Police Department Shop with a Cop, 2660 Civic Center Drive, Roseville, MN 55113. Funds will be used to support Shop with a Cop and other family and youth support programs. Contact Yunke at corey.yunke@cityofroseville.com or 651-792-7209 if you have questions.
