This week, state lawmakers from the House Capital Investment Committee toured The MN OVAL to learn more about a bonding proposal to fund essential upgrades trimmed from the 2019/2020 bonding bill.
The request includes financing for aging infrastructure and renovations to bathroom facilities that will improve access and accessibility.
Because of legislative support, $3.9 million was included in the 2020 bonding bull for repairs to the MN OVAL.
This new request is for remaining items that were removed in the 2020 bonding bill, including replacement of the support facility roofs (including making them solar-ready), replacement of aging rooftop HVAC units, renovation of the banquet room fixtures, and improving access and accessibility of restrooms to accommodate major events and large crowds.
Gov. Tim Walz is expected to announce his bonding proposal in mid-January.
MN OVAL and its support facilities have been a valuable state asset since 1993-- 28 years! It has been a successful partnership with the State, the City of Roseville and user groups.
The MN OVAL draws from and benefits people well beyond the boundaries of the City of Roseville.
International, national, and regional speedskating and bandy events, as well as open skaters from throughout the metro area and beyond enjoy this facility's use.
