On Monday, September 13, City staff presented the City’s Q3 Strategic Equity Update to City Council.
Strategic Equity Manager Thomas Brooks presented several new tools that the City is implementing to help it reach its strategic equity goals: diversifying the workplace, diversifying commission make-up, and developing a racial equity toolkit to guide project development.
Envisio - Implemented in September, this public-facing platform shows the City’s progress on its equity goals, what has been accomplished, and what is to come. View the Action Plan Updates
MySidewalk – This platform helps the City pool data from multiple demographic sources to inform the topics that City departments are addressing. One project it is currently being used for is the community engagement component of a tenant notification ordinance.
Training - City leadership are undergoing training in Q4 related to several topics, including incorporating anti-bias practices and understanding microaggressions. Additional training for staff and the community is planned for 2023.
The goal of these tools is to strategically move the City forward on its equity goals, and to create an inclusive community where the predictability of success is not based on race, ethnicity, or any other demographic of people.
