Does your home need to be painted? You may be eligible for a free paint job. Each year the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches sponsors a Paint-A-Thon. Volunteers paint homes throughout the seven-county metro area in August.
To be eligible participants must be a homeowner who meets income guidelines and be 60 years or older or have a permanent disability. The monthly household income cannot exceed $1,900 for one person, $2,600 for two people or $3,200 for three people. The home must be a single-family home and occupied by the owner. It must be structurally sound and not in need of major repair.
Call 612-276-1579, or log on to www.gmcc.org/paint-a-thon for an application. Roseville residents can call Brian Coughlin at 651-792-7082 to request an application. Application deadline is April 14. Not everyone who applies is selected for this program. Homes are inspected and selected based on need. Painting will be completed the first weekend of August.
The number of houses painted is limited by the number of volunteers. If you or a group of your friends or coworkers would like to volunteer to paint a home, call 612-276-1579.
