Now that snow is just a memory it’ll be time to prepare for spring planting. As you rake up leaves, you may wonder what to do with them. You can add to your backyard composter, or Roseville residents can drop them off at Roseville’s Leaf Compost site.
Only leaves are accepted at this location. Please dump your leaves and remove any bags. The compost site is located on Dale Street, south of County Road C, and open to residents from March 30 to May 11.
Hours are:
- Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Wed: 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Sat: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Sun: 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Residents can pick up free compost and wood chips from bins in front of the compost site. The nutrient rich compost boosts your soil and helps your garden. Wood chips make a great ground cover that reduces weeding, saves water, nourishes soil and reduces the need for chemical weed killers or herbicides.
Ramsey County's free yard waste sites open April 1. Drop off grass clippings, leaves and other soft-bodied plants. Brush and other woody materials are accepted at some sites. Log on to www.co.ramsey.mn.us/ph/hy/ or call 651-633-3279 for directions or additional information.
Ash trees, limbs, branches, logs or untreated ash lumber with the bark attached, cannot move outside of Ramsey or Hennepin counties. Residents can hire a commercial tree or yard cleanup service to collect tree waste or take their tree waste to a Ramsey County yard waste site.
